" Music is the art which is most nigh to art and memories." - Oscar Wilde
Isn't it weird how one single song can bring back a thousand memories? I heard a few songs yesterday that I had last heard at least two years ago, and it felt as if I was transported back in time. I could feel the hope in me, the love and happiness in my heart and the smile on my face, with one tiny difference - I knew how life had turned out, and there was no reason to hope now. I wanted to feel as happy as I had felt before, but that happiness been born out of ignorance, and as they say, ignorance is bliss. But once the ignorance is lost, the illusion fades away. But that's okay, because I'd choose truth over ignorance every time.
That's the most beautiful thing about music -
It can be like a time machine.
One song -
The lyrics, the melody, the mood
Can take you back
to a moment in time,
Like nothing else can.
Listen to a song, and you can not only feel the emotions but also the wind in your hair, the sun shining on your face, and the sights, smells and sounds around you. And it's a wonderful thing, being able to go back in time, but it also brings pain, because, well, not everything is as it was. Some things have become better, some things have taken a turn for the worse. Many hopes and dreams have been shattered, but new ones have also been formed. We ourselves have changed as we grow, and well, a lot of stuff has happened. I don't usually feel like going back in time. I'm proud of all I've done, and and knowing the truth is important to me. But sometimes, just sometimes, on the loneliest nights, when there's only me and the moon and the stars and my music, I wish to go back in time, just to not feel this empty and lonely.
